Dana Perino

"Dr. PerPer...or how I learned to love the strange.." In Response to hearing on 12/11/07 CNN story of President Bush' White House spokesperson, Dana Perino's "exaggeration" of not knowing what the Cuban Missile Crisis was....by way of introduction, this image of President Bush's double from that era. Enrique Peralta Azurdia, defense Minister of Guatemalan President, Miguel Ydigoras Fuentes (1958-1963). Know as a Bay of Pigs Figure, Ydigoras allowed the US to train Cuban exiles in Guatemala for the invasion of Cuba and to build an airstrip in Guatemala. However, rarely is mention made of Ydigoras' role in the safety of the Americans on the US' Eastern Seaboard in bringing the Soviet presence to light. Usually, the r.a.p., rapid aerial photography of the U2 is lauded. Even the US born Ydigoras grandchildren would say good night to each other with a sing song, "sleep with the Angels" "U2" "thank you". Yet seldom when there is a sigh of relief when thinking of what might have happened in '62 does anyone think of Ydigoras. In Ydigoras' writings, introduced by former US Assistant Secretary of State, Adolf Berle, Ydigoras states, "Guatemala had officially advised the United States government of the rapidly mounting threat of aggression from Cuba, and the existence of the Soviet bases." "We have a well-organized espionage system in Cuba. It is sometimes disrupted by the capture of some agent but it always gets back into operation. Through this source of operations we were able to confirm the existence of three types of missile platforms, four different types of rockets, fields for long distance and jet planes, and submarine bases and underground submarine shelters on the Cuban coasts." "At four o'clock on the afternoon of October 16, 1962, six days before President Kennedy declared the embargo, the United States Ambassador, John O. Bell, and Colonel Norman W. Geron, Chief of the United States Military Mission to Guatemala, came to my office, and conferred with Foreign Minister Jesus Unda Murillo and myself." "I informed my visitors that I had sufficient evidence to be convinced that there were nuclear weapons in Cuba, placed there by Russia." "Pursuant to our commitments with the Organization of American States, the Guatemalan Ambassador to that Organization, Dr. Carlos Urrutia, directed a memorandum to the president of the council, informing him of the conference." What President Bush's double went on to do to President Ydigoras is ..."Well, my fellow Americans..." as R.Reagan was fond of saying yet another tale for later telling by this former Reagan W.H. Writer. As to Dana Perino & Anderson Cooper comments of the Cuban Missile Crisis being associated with the Bay of Pigs... Ms. Perino is probably well aware that the 2000 Florida vote was pivotal to President Bush's election, Florida's Latino population votes Republican as a direct result of the Bay of Pigs unlike the majority of the non-Florida Latino voters that traditionally vote Democrat. Presidents, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Miguel Ydigoras, "Mike & Ike", worked together in preparation for the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the last minute reversal by JFK is reason President G. W. Bush was elected as it is why the traditionally Democrat leaning Latinos nationally, lean overwhelmingly Republican in Florida. (as a statesman, ydigoras was also a delegate to the 1919 Paris Peace Conference for the drafting of the Treaty of Versailles, founding member of the League of Nations, GT ambassador to the United Kingdom, ... Ms. Perino may be aware as well of the Guatemalan "sway" vote at the UN 60 years ago which may have been mentioned at the Annapolis Conference on Nov. 29, the Eve of the 60th Anniversary of the UN Resolution of the Palestinian Partition which allowed the modern State of Israel to be formed.) Perino & Peralta: thus the "Dr. Perper or how I learned to love the strange." :(
