Christmas is here early! The trees are frosted with ice. Actually, this is Daytona Beach, Florida, where it doesn’t get cold enough to frost the trees over. I saw this tree in the parking lot at the grocery store; the stark contrast with the background caught my eye. There was a streetlight right near it. Jeni POV I was walking to my locker at school when i remembered my photography assignment. I really should be doing that. Skip a few days. That night I came home. Tomorrow was my birthday and tonight had the art show to show off my photography piece. I went up to my room and there was a box with a bow around it. I undid the ribbon and opened it. I picked up the piece of paper. 'tonight is your birthday party. Put the dress on and meet me at this address at 9. xx Nick' Oh shit. Thats so sweet but I had to do that photography stuff! I text nick telling him I would be a bit late to my own birthday. At the photography Night I stood there inside the great hall. Judges were walking around looking at everyone portfolios. I was looking at my watch when Mrs. S came up to me. "hey Jeni, your portfolio is on of the best i've seen in my time. I mean those photos have such real emotion. When did you take them?" Mrs. S asked I stood there coz I didnt no what to say. "um well they were from a holiday but they kind of meant more than that..." I smiled at her. she winked at me then moved on. A judge walked up to the microphone. Judge: attention everyone! After much thinking my colleagues have decided that its time we announce the winner who will recieve a thousand dollar prize. The winner is entrée 26. Jeni Ryan. I kind of stood there and then Mrs. S ushered me to the stage. I thanked the judge but then quickly rushed out. I smiled to myself as I ran. I was going to be late to my own party. Nick POV The whole room was decked out in white balloons and streamers with silver glitter everywhere. The whole school had practically showed up and we were all waiting for Jen including me. I was so excited and I hoped she liked my surprise. Jeni POV I arrived at the hall and had changed into my dress before I got there. The dress Nick had picked out was beautiful. It was a black full length dress that was hulterneck. I opened too double doors with my two hand and saw the whole school gathered down there in white and silver clothing. And I walked down to Nick who was in a white shirt, white skinnies, white suit jacket and a silver tie. He linked my arm and brought me down to everyone. Into the night As the music played everyone was dancing and having fun. I was dancing with Shaniqua and Nick and everyone else. I saw nick go over to the DJ and was talking to Dan when I realized that I wanted to give him my photography assignment. It had won and I was so proud of it. I could honestly say I loved him. I walked into the back then pulled the folder out. As I walked back in smiling I noticed the whole room was quiet. Nick was standing there arguing with Dan. And I could hear it all because the DJ's mic was on and they were right next to it. "but you don't get it..." Nick said "ahh yeh I do. You actually got the girl. Not that that matters no but you just name your price" Dan argued "but its more than..." "seriously name your price" Dan yelled Nick turned around when Dan pointed to me and then the DJ came and turned off the microphone. Nicks mouth dropped and my heart broke into. I stood there with the folder in my hand and the whole room was silent. -------------------- awe :(
