James Kalm stumbles into a unique display of photographic invention with this exhibition of Kim Keevers recent work. Using an original technique of building and photographing underwater dioramas, Keever is able to create fantasy scenes that capture all the mood and mystery of the Romantic landscape painters most specifically the Hudson River School. Combining the photos with his original music and video, Keever engulfs the viewer in a personal world of faux-natural beauty exploiting the audiences desire for a return to a perfect, allbeit synthetic, world. His works stem from an investigation of his home town of Jixi, a mining town in NE China.
