"The Seamist" 2008 (Flight of the Osprey)

Original music and photographs by Robert Harsch. Various locations including Glacier National Park (esp. Lake McDonald, Ptarmigan & Swiftcurrent Trails), Morrell Falls, & The Mission Mountains in Montana, and The Grand Tetons & Hot Springs State Park (Thermopolis) in Wyoming. I took all the photos, except the cover of my CD, "Montana Soundscapes" which was taken by Michael Patterson. The music was originally recorded on a Korg T-1 synth/workstation in 1992. In 2001 I got a Korg Triton and I "re-recorded" it via MIDI onto the Triton from the original. I then changed a few things, added about 2 minutes to the piece, and left open tracks to play "live". In January 2008 I re-visited the piece, recorded some of those "live" tracks and added at least one harmony line in the reprise that's altogether new. Most of the sounds come from the Triton, but the "pad" (intro & transitions) is doubled by a combination stack from a Korg NS5R Module. I dug through boxes of photos to find CD-ROMs & Floppy Discs with nature shots taken with my Pentax IQ-160 35mm camera w/ telephoto zoom (most from 1999-2002). I assembled the slide show with Nero PhotoShow, but low RAM on my computer & the program's clunkiness made it tough to get transitions to sync with music consistently. This is my 2nd project w/ PhotoShow (I did 2 versions of my 1st one), and I may have outgrown the program... and tech support has not responded to my email in over a week. I also REALLY need a new computer: I blame a bad monitor for too-dark photos. So, go to my page on MySpace & download "The Seamist 2008", my whole "Montana Soundscapes" album ("Seamist '08" Bonus Track), and other tunes from my Snocap Store for Harsch Sounds: http://www.myspace.com/harschsoundsmusic Tell your Friends! Heck, if 150 folks down-load the album for $9.99, I'll be set! :) ~ R
