Time Markers is a multidisciplinary project that combines crude pinhole photography with digital technologies to record and display events from science, the arts, nature, business, social and family rituals. Events are simultaneously recorded by a single, cumulative exposure from a paintcan-pinhole camera and a series of digital time-lapse stills strung together for a flipbook-like animation. The pinhole and digital traces are craft-laden, aesthetically charged choices, skimming across both banal and esoteric modern rituals, incorporating elements of chance and surprise as these daily routines unfold.

Twenty-five Atoms is one of a recent series of sculptures and photographs influenced by the atomic age, a period in history during which the most significant of scientific accomplishments arrived with lasting and largely unmanageable consequences. The Making of Cenotaph, Kinetic Sculpture
Website: http://www.stevehollinger.com This low-resolution video documents the making of the kinetic sculpture "cenotaph". A compilation of atomic test footage and live-action choreography was used to create a series of approximately 900 printed flipcards. These cards were bound together as a book and wrapped around a hub to form a moving-picture reel. A motor cranks the reel, flipping through the cards to animate the 60-second live action sequence. The sculpture is weather-proof and largely indestructable -- constructed from poured concrete, a thick glass prism, and handmade mechanics contained within. The cenotaph is solar powered, with solar cells in a bay at the rear of the concrete housing, embedded in clear rubber resin. No doubt, "cenotaph" will be around for quite some time.
