The OP has a Full Frame 35mm camera, the D700. Nikkor's 12-24 is a DX lens, not FX. Sigma's 10-20 is a DC lens which is the lingo for Digital only APS-C lenses. That alone should eliminate those options on a D700 since they will work, ...
